Fall Tour: October 16-21, 2018
Where in the world is Mixed Company, you might ask? Well, this past weekend we were up in Braintree, MA, on our Fall Tour! We were lucky enough to sing for and work with students at several schools in the area, including Canton High School, The Rivers School, and Beaver Country Day School. We sang at a joint concert with VoiceMale at Brandeis University, as well as at two concerts for the family and friends of members Emma Rutan and Aïssa Guindo. Very special thanks to the Guindo Family and the Rutan Family for being such wonderful hosts and making this a very memorable fall tour!
Parents Weekend Concert: October 5, 2018
We had such a BLAST at our Parents Weekend Concert, singing two joint sets with Doox of Yale at United Church on the Green. Thank you so much to all of the friends and family who came out to listen us, and congratulations to our freshbagels on their first on-campus concert! If you couldn’t make it, be sure to put our Winter Jam (January 26, 2019) on your calendar — you’re not going to want to miss hearing these freshbagels sing! Special thanks to our Biz team (Nancy, Kira, and Miles) for putting together such a wonderful show.
Parents Weekend Retreat: September 14-16, 2018
Soon after Tap Night, the Gump headed out to Pawcatuck, CT to learn new music and spend some time getting to know each other out in the New England sun. We’re getting ready for our Parents Weekend Concert, coming up on October 5th! Special thanks to Susan Nelligan, Jim Goldenberg, and Gay Shanahan for being lovely hosts!
Tap Night: September 12, 2018
The Gump keeps on growing! We are SO unbelievably excited to welcome eight new freshbagels: Alaina Anderson, Brooke Shapiro, Emily Li, Ben Cohen, Enrique Chuidian, Wen Long Yang, Will Evans, and Josh Gonzalez! Tap Night was so much fun, and we can’t wait to sing with you lovely freshbagels. Welcome to the Mixed Co family!
Library Jam: April 30, 2018
This past Monday, we watched with happy tears in our eyes as our rising seniors sang in their first concert as new members of the Whiffenpoofs and Whim ‘n Rhythm at Library Jam! We are sad to no longer be singing with them, but also so excited to see what the future holds for these wonderful humans. We can’t wait to go to all of their performances next year! THANK YOU all for everything that you have brought to Mixed Co in the past three years, we love you!

BullDog Days: April 23-24, 2018
We had such a blast at Bulldog Days this year, meeting prospective first years at the Extracurricular Bazaar in Payne Whitney Gym, and then later that evening performing at Open Rehearsal. It was so great to talk with prefrosh about a cappella at Yale, and we absolutely cannot wait for rush next year!
March 29, 2018
This past week, several members of Mixed Company performed “Passacaglia” and several etudes with Caroline Shaw and Mixed Co alum Estelí Gomez at the Yale University Art Gallery. “Passacaglia” is the fourth movement from Shaw’s Pulitzer Prize-winning composition “Partita for 8 voices.” The performance took place in the Sol Lewitt Exhibition at the YUAG, which featured works from which Shaw drew inspiration for her piece.
Spring Tour: March 10-22, 2018
This past spring break, Mixed Co traveled around the globe on an incredible tour of China! While in the country, we stopped in Beijing, Xi’an, Kunming, and Shenyang. At each stop, in addition to incredible sightseeing and absolutely mouthwatering food, we had the opportunity to perform at four schools and interact with their students and faculty. Very special thanks to Gabrielle Qiao, ZMN International Education Foundation, and the students and faculty of Beijing Huijia Private School, Xi’an Gaoxin No. 1 High School, Kunming No. 1 High School, and Northeastern Yucai High School in Shenyang for coordinating with us and making this unforgettable experience possible!
Snow job XXXVI: January 27, 2018
This year’s annual Winter Jam was the product of months and months of hard work from everyone in Mixed Company, and we were so happy and excited to share it with everyone! We had such a great time performing in Sheffield-Sterling-Strathcona Hall, showing off new arrangements, new twists on old arrangements, and just a splash of comedy. Special shoutout to our wonderful alumni, who were front and center cheering us on. If you weren’t able to make it, be sure to check out our YouTube channel for videos!

Winter Tour: January 4-14, 2018
Mixed Co started off our annual winter tour by escaping from snowy Connecticut and heading to the west coast! Our first stop was in San Mateo, CA, where we had a blast seeing the sights. We were lucky enough to perform in a joint show with Aria, part of the Cantabile Youth Singers of Silicon Valley, at Angelica’s Restaurant. We then headed to Bellevue, WA, slowly acclimating ourselves back to colder weather. In addition to exploring Seattle, we also held a joint concert with The Baudboys, an a cappella group from Microsoft. Throughout our tour we enjoyed singing at a number of schools, including Menlo School and the Nueva School in CA and Garfield High School and the Northwest School in WA. Many, many thanks to the Sze Family and the Parthasarathy Family for being incredible hosts!

Mixed Company’s year is off to a fantastic start! This past October Recess, Mixed Co drove up to Albany, New York, for our first tour of the year! The Gump has grown yet again, and we are now proud to introduce our five new freshbagels: Aïssa Guindo, Kira Sze, Emma Rutan, Matthew Sáenz, and Miles Goldenberg! We are so excited to sing with these lovely first years and have them as a part of the Mixed Co family this year and in years to come.
SUMMER TOUR: MAY 10-21, 2017
Post finals, Mixed Co took a trip to Colombia. With the guidance of the Colombo Americano, we were able to perform in theaters in Medellín, Armenia, and Cali. We also got to sing with various choirs, participate in cultural exchanges, sightsee, and check out really cool restaurants, most notably Crepes and Waffles. Special thanks to Luísa and Jorge for coordinating our trip and being amazing guides!
Bulldog days: April 24-26, 2017
Bulldog Days was amazing this year — we met so many prospective first years at the Extracurricular Bazaar and had a great time at Open Rehearsal later that evening. It was so exciting to meet and sing for prefrosh interested in a cappella at Yale! Who knows, maybe we met the future members of Mixed Company!!
Spring Tour: March 11-18, 2017
This Spring Break, Mixed Co went on a road trip! We started out driving to Albany, NY, and sang at places like Albany High School and the Phoenicians Restaurant. Then, we braved a blizzard and crossed international borders to make our way to Toronto, ON. In between exploring the city and enjoying Canadian hospitality, we performed at several local nursing homes, like Schlegel Villages. On the way back, we stopped by Cornell University and sang with The Chordials, one of Cornell's a cappella groups. A special thanks to Donna and Peter Young, as well as Patty Young and Paul Schaffer for being amazing hosts!
Snow Job XXXV: February 4, 2017
Every year is a special year in Mixed Company, and every year's winter concert is the product of months of hard work. But this year, Mixed Company performed for a few more people than usual — by "a few", we mean over 100 alumni of the group! Our a cappella ancestors congregated in New Haven for their 5-year reunion, and we had a great time meeting them all and connecting with our musical roots. In order to accommodate the extra audience members, we performed in the beautiful and spacious Battell Chapel on Yale's Old Campus. Thank you, alums, for making this year's Snow Job one to remember!
Winter Tour: January 7-14, 2017
This winter break, Mixed Co headed down to our nation's capitol to spread our love of music (and our country, of course). Between the obligatory sightseeing and museum-visiting, we enjoyed singing at the Kreeger Museum, Sidwell Friends High School, and many other schools and nursing homes in the area. We were also privileged to perform for U.S. Representative Mia Love (R-UT) as well as in the Statuary Hall in the Capitol Building! Thanks to the Campoamor family for hosting us for an entire week!
Fall Tour: October 19-21, 2016
During Yale's three-day fall break, Mixed Co embarked on our first tour of the year to perform around New York City and Southern Connecticut. We had a lot of fun singing at nursing homes like Jewish Senior Services and The Greens at Greenwich, as well as running a cappella workshops at schools like Fairfield Ludlowe High School and The Calhoun School. Thanks to Andy and Judy Keller (and JJ the Dog) for hosting us at their lovely home in Rye, NY!
tap night: september 14, 2016
The Gump is growing! After a rigorous process of auditions and callbacks, Mixed Co tapped 6 new members: Ananya, Neha, Nancy, Matt, John, and Liam. They're all super talented and we already sound better with them around. In addition to having a perfect tap, we've continued our 11-year tradition of tapping a sophomore. We're so excited for this year!
Commencement Concert: May 21, 2016
Mixed Co's seniors graduate on Monday, and to celebrate we performed one last concert with them for their friends and family members. It is with great pride and sadness that we watch these wonderful human beings head out into the real world. (except for Dayrin. He'll be around for another year)
Seniors: thank you for your careful guidance and tireless leadership over the past few years. Your strong wills and positive energy have been an inspiration to us all, and you have impacted the group for the better in too many ways to count. We are grateful for all that you've done, but we know that your accomplishments are just beginning. So, with that we say:
Don't fear the future.

While there, we sang at Woodstock Terrace and held a performance and workshop at Woodstock Elementary School. We also volunteered at the Vermont Foodbank in Barre, VT, for the Yale Day of Service, before sampling some delicious cheese and maple syrup at Sugarbush Farms. A big thank you to Wendy Spector for hosting us and organizing this wonderful experience!
Bulldog Days: April 25-27, 2016
We may have just met next year's newest members of Mixed Company! This year at Bulldog Days, we talked with prefrosh at Yale's Extracurricular Bazaar and sang our hearts out on public display during our Open Rehearsal. Thanks to all the prefrosh who chatted with us; we can't wait until rush next fall!
BERMUDA TOUR: MARCH 12-19, 2016
Mixed Co had an incredible time touring around the island of Bermuda for the first week of our Spring Break! We were generously hosted by the St. George's Club and sang at Griffin's Restaurant, Harbourfront Restaurant, The Reefs Resort and Club, The Dinghy Club, and The Berkeley Institute. We also had plenty of time to explore the beaches and sights of Bermuda!
Snow Job XXXIV: JANUARY 30, 2016
Our Winter Jam, Snow Job 34, was a huge success! We completely sold out Sudler Recital Hall, debuted five new arrangements and songs from our 2015 album, and absolutely loved showcasing all of the hard work we put into making a great concert. Thank you all for coming and supporting Mixed Co! If you were unable to make it, check out the videos on YouTube by clicking here. We look forward to the rest of the semester, in which we will be doing some local performances as well as traveling to Bermuda for Spring Break!

JANUARY 23, 2016
Mixed Co braved Winter Storm Jonas to sing at freshman Jacob Miller's old high school! We led a workshop for high school students and then shared the stage with three a cappella groups from Needham High School as well as The Tufts Amalgamates, UNH's Not Too Sharp, and UMass Amherst's Wicked Pitch.
